What our CCPI assessment means for our customers
CCF is proud to have become one of the first distributors in the UK to have completed The Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) Assessment for Merchants and Distributors. But what does this mean for our customers, and more importantly, how will it help you with your next contract? In our latest blog, we are taking a deeper dive into the origins of the CCPI, its values, and above all, its benefits.
What is the CCPI?
The Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) is an initiative aimed at enhancing the clarity, accuracy, and transparency of construction product information. Established to address specific industry challenges, the CCPI seeks to provide greater confidence that product information is clear, accurate, accessible, up-to-date, and unambiguous.
The CCPI provides a set of minimum requirements designed to improve the management, marketing, and sharing of construction product information. This is an issue that affects the entire supply chain, and as such, the CCPI aims to promote best practices among manufacturers, merchants, and distributors, to foster a culture of transparency across the whole of the construction industry.

Why was the CCPI established?
The CCPI was created in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the subsequent need to improve how product information is managed, communicated and marketed. The CCPI promotes the importance of using clear and concise language, validating any claims about product performance by supplying details of certification, and that any images used aren’t misleading in any way.
Why did CCF choose to go through the CCPI assessment?
CCF completed the CCPI Assessment for Merchants and Distributors in November 2024. As a leading distributor of insulation, drywall, and ceiling products, CCF occupies a pivotal position within the construction supply chain and we take this role very seriously. By working with both specifiers and installers to source products from manufacturers and supplying them to building sites across the country, we have a responsibility to all our customers in terms of the product information we share. Our conformance with the CCPI has refined and improved our processes of managing and disseminating critical product information so that all of our customers have better access to accurate and current data.
What does CCF's CCPI Assessment mean for customers?
CCF's successful completion of the CCPI Assessment for Merchants and Distributors signifies that we have the necessary processes and systems in place to uphold the CCPI standards. This is a continuous improvement process that requires ongoing in-house checks to ensure that these processes continue to work for both us and our customer base. Above all, our commitment to these processes means that our customers—whether main or specialist contractors—benefit from the work we are doing with our suppliers to encourage and adopt the high standards of the CCPI to deliver quality product information that they can have greater confidence in.
We are also committed to improving the competency, skills, and knowledge of our team and this is another key requirement for compliance with the CCPI code. That’s why we have training programmes in place for both new and current employees to ensure that anyone who provides product information is competent and has the right level of knowledge and expertise appropriate to their role.
What is the difference between the Manufacturers' CCPI Assessment and the Merchants and Distributors' Assessment?
The CCPI offers tailored assessments for manufacturers and merchants, which recognises their individual and important roles within the construction supply chain. The Manufacturers' CCPI Assessment aims to provide greater clarity, accuracy, and accessibility of the product information they create, such as technical data, performance claims, and compliance certifications. On the other hand, the Merchants' CCPI Assessment evaluates how effectively they manage, distribute, and communicate this product information to end-users. For merchants and distributors like CCF, the assessment confirms that their systems and processes are robust enough to maintain the integrity of manufacturers' data while ensuring it is readily available and easily understood by contractors and other stakeholders.
A number of the manufacturers we work with have already gone through their own CCPI assessments. Others are only at the start of their CCPI journey. We’ve created our own External Product Information Policy which outlines how we are working with all our supply chain partners to verify and update all product information.
How can contractors get involved?
By engaging with suppliers like CCF, who have passed the CCPI assessment, contractors can ensure they are accessing high-quality product information. Contractors can also help raise awareness by joining the CCPI Demand-Side Supporters—a cohort of contractors, housebuilders, and other construction organisations who have signed a pledge to promote conformance to the CCPI within their own supply chains.
The aim is to support the delivery of CCPI conformance across the industry as soon as possible, and as such, CCPI Demand-Side Supporters will look to introduce this commitment into supply chain agreements as a preferred way of working. Suppliers and manufacturers who adhere to the CCPI will then be prioritised, helping to close the loop and ensure that best practices are upheld at every stage of a project’s delivery.
