Our Autumn headlines!

18th Nov 2024

The clocks have gone back and the seasons are changing but just before we look too far ahead to Christmas and the new year, let’s take a quick look back at what has been happening here at CCF over the last few months.

Our teams keep building

The construction industry is constantly evolving with new regulations and requirements which is why we are continuously developing too! A key part of our ethos as a company is to nurture talent from within and our internal apprenticeship scheme is allowing us to do just that. At CCF, our inclusive apprenticeships are suitable for colleagues at the start of their career as well as those with more experience. A great example of this is our Operations Manager Mike Holliday who has recently completed his Level 5 Management Development Apprenticeship. Well done Mike!

Experience and knowledge are two great assets within our teams and we are delighted to retain talent and have many colleagues grow with us as a company. Recently celebrating a significant career milestone is Todd Gibbons who started out as an apprentice back in 1979!  After an impressive 45 years service, Todd’s career is still progressing with us and he has recently been promoted to Sales Director - London to help support our work in the capital.

John Tomson, Head of Branch Sales at CCF Didcot, has also clocked up an impressive 30 years of service. John started his career with us back in 1994, which incidentally was the same year that the Channel Tunnel was completed so as you can imagine, he has seen plenty of change in the construction industry since then!

Sharing the knowledge and industry experience we have within our workforce is one of the ways we stay focused on delivering first class service to our customers. Most recently this has been in the form of dedicated training days focused on the many ceiling systems and insulation products we can distribute to our customers. Our category teams have played an important role in developing and delivering these sessions which are helping us strengthen our relationships with key suppliers as well as allowing us to better support our customers with specialised knowledge of the extensive range of ceiling and insulation solutions we can offer.

Carbon reporting update

We are committed to driving sustainability forwards and we are pleased to share that our carbon reporting trial continues to head in the right direction. Since its inception in June 2023, we have been working hard behind the scenes to refine the concept of our carbon reporting service which aims to provide our customers with detailed information regarding the carbon dioxide equivalent emissions of products throughout the delivery process.

Our carbon reporting tool is currently being trialled at a live site with our main contractor partner Mace Interiors. We are supplying various products as part of the large-scale refurbishment of Peterborough Court, an 11-storey commercial office building in London that was once the European HQ of global investment banking company Goldman Sachs. More details of this exciting development will be shared in due course but in the meantime, please follow CCF on LinkedIn to stay up to speed with all our latest news.

All eyes on our own brands

The relaunch of our Sektor mineral ceiling tile range and the development of our Tradeline drywall system has been a big focus for us so far this year and have provided our customers with even greater product choice. This has led to a number of exciting new project wins, including a significant order for our Tradeline drywall system and various insulation materials for Preston based property development project which was delivered by CCF Manchester. We are particularly proud that this win came following a recommendation from a neighbouring site manager who was extremely happy with the service from our delivery and branch team. We made deliveries to the site over six months – all delivered on schedule – and also supported the developer and architectural team with technical advice relating to both the drywall and insulation elements of the build.

Branching out

Here at CCF we are extremely proud of our branch teams and the excellent work they do to support our customers up and down the country. Earlier this year we saw our regional network grow with the opening of CCF Norwich and we are delighted to report that we have already seen a number of significant orders delivered by our new team. Our established branch at CCF Peterborough has also recently undergone some updates and refurbishments, particularly to the yard area which has been redesigned to improve efficiency and capacity.

There is also plenty going on at our CCF West Birmingham branch now that our new call centre has opened! Located on the top floor of our branch, this new addition serves the whole of the UK and is helping us to build new relationships and better support existing customers as we fulfil their orders.

These updates across our branch network are just some of the ways we are delivering first class service to our customers working on projects up and down the country and you can read more about the ways our branch teams can help day in, day out in our blog here.
