Supporting Supply Chain Competence With ASFP Passive Fire Experience

6th Oct 2023

We’re providing a series of ASFP passive fire protection product training sessions, supported by ROCKWOOL and Promat for customers at CCF branches across the UK.

We’re providing a series of ASFP passive fire protection product training sessions, supported by ROCKWOOL and Promat for customers at CCF branches across the UK.

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) mobile classroom is scheduled to visit five CCF branches in Harmondsworth, South Ruislip, Cardiff, Exeter and Southampton this autumn. With three sessions planned at each branch, we’re aiming to bring this training opportunity to as many as 150 customers.

ASFP is the UK’s leading trade association for the passive fire protection sector and its aim is to bring together passive fire protection manufacturers, contractors and certification bodies to encourage, develop and give guidance on essential standards in passive fire protection. Dedicated training courses are a vital part of that work and hosting these events at branch level is an important way we’re supporting our customers, and driving up industry competence as required in the Building Safety Act.

Richard Gay, Technical Manager at CCF said: “These events are an excellent example of collaboration in action. Our role as distributor puts us in a unique position to be able to join manufacturers and industry associations like the ASFP, together with our customers in order to offer dedicated technical training for installers. It’s part of what makes us CCF – our commitment to working with our supply chain partners and investing in our own technical competency to support our customers.

“All the events we’ve hosted so far this month have been very well attended - providing an impromptu networking opportunity for everyone who joined us too. We got some great feedback from attendees so watch this space for more events in the future.”

Rich Green, Commercial Manager at the ASFP added: “Passive fire protection is absolutely fundamental to building safety and with the implementation of the Building Safety Act, providing up-to-date training has never been more important. We’d like to do more roadshow style events like this, though the teams at CCF, ROCKWOOL and Promat have already set the bar very high! These events are all fully subscribed now but we offer passive fire protection training courses all year round for anyone looking to refresh their passive fire protection knowledge.”

We offer a wide range of fire protection products such as fire protection boards, cavity barriers and service penetration fire stopping systems from leading manufacturers including ROCKWOOL and Promat which are designed to help prevent the spread of smoke and fire and to protect both the building and occupants. We’re committed to the continuous development of our own in-house technical knowledge too and to date over 50 CCF colleagues have completed training with the Association of Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP).

We were recently nominated at the Association of Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) Awards 2023 in the ‘highest engagement of the year’ category. This includes the ongoing development of our own competency frameworks and investment in dedicated fire protection training events for colleagues and customers. The winners will be announced on November 23rd.

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is offering a 20% discount on three of its courses until the end of the year - ‘General Introduction to Passive Fire’ course (online); ‘Introduction to Passive Fire for Installers’; and its NEW ‘Fire Stopping’ course.
